Growing A Farmer

Growing A Farmer

Growing A Farmer offers much more than the title gives off. The book is an in depth story of a man named Kurt Timmermeister. A small time restaurant owner that went from serving his customers frozen and packaged chicken and pork, to becoming aware about exactly where the food he was serving was coming from. This book shows the process Timmermeister took to go from food preparer to food producer. He quickly realized that he could the production of his animals on the farm and turn that into fresh, wholesome food products. Growing A Farmer really shows the ups and downs of taking a piece of land into a fully functioning farm that helped provide a business with food. In the initial stages of the book, the author describes the process of buying the land and turning it into a functioning farm. Timmermeister goes through the process launching a bee hive, buying some livestock, plating produce, etc.

This book is very interesting and it has been an awesome read. Reading this book, it and seeing Timmermeister make the realization of thinking about where his food product was exactly coming from it made me think the same thing. We don’t usually think of where are food is coming from if it tastes good. Reading this book makes you think about the process of how our food is made. What would we really think about the food we eat if we knew how it was processed? This book makes us think about things kind of things. What we put our body is important to our health and it is important to consume the most natural and wholesome products. Reading this book, you start to appreciate what Kurt Timmermeister is trying to do. How he is trying to serve his costumers the right, natural things because it matters.
